I was unsure whether or not to list this under attenuata, but because it is currently generally accepted as such, I decided to fall in line with the crowd in this case. I was told by the seller that it is actually and technically not an attenuata, but it has not yet been given it's own species name. The reasoning is that I was told that the flower is completely different which seems to me a valid consideration and concern. Some day in the future when this blooms, I'll add flower pics as well.
This has grown out nicely from the tiny plant I acquired.
In experimenting with the ideal lighting for this plant, I have found that too little light and the variegation is not well distinguished. Too much lighting and the leaf tips burn. I'm starting to get it more right now and it's my impression that with the right intensity lighting, the variegation can show a nice yellowish color that contrasts beautifully with the characteristic namesake "blue" (which looks more green than blue to me - lol) of this variety.
In profile, there's nothing at all to make one believe it's anything other than an Agave attenuata.

Re: Agave attenuata 'Boutin Blue' Variegated
Stem is about a foot or more tall now. That was about the size when my 'Ray of Light' stated making offsets, so hopefully that to look forward to in the next year or so...
