I got a couple of nice cacti for a steal at the weekend, and I repotted them into bigger containers right away.
Not having a specific "cactus dirt" I mixed equal parts perlite, garden soil and decomposed granite, with some lava rock for kicks. Does that sound OK?
Here's what I got:
OK this is a Euphorbia, but anyone know how fast this will grow out of its 1 gallon pot? Will it do OK in pot or should I plant out?
This was $36, was 2 gallon pot, now in a 5 gal pot, and about 30" tall. Most of them were pretty ratty, but this was OK with many buds. I added two more columns I had kicking around in the back... I am 99% sure same species.
This was $39, was 2 gallon pot, now in a 5 gal pot. How tall do these get, and what is the growth rate?

I haven't grown that particular tricho hybrid, but most can grow a few inches a year. Some are more globular and some are more columnar...that one has the look of the latter. Most of the columnars in my experience will get nearly 2 feet tall then start to fall over.
