Re: Cactusville?
Thanks, those are nice! We'll have to hook you up with some Echinocereus and Mammillaria. I've always been drawn to the clumpers. I can't have Mamms out front, our Peccaries eat them like candy, but they leave Echinocereus alone.

Re: Cactusville?
Sorry to hear about the turtles, you're lucky they don't eat every plant in sight. That is a Parodia magnifica (Notocactus) you have pictured. I can't have those here -- everything eats them, even ground squirrels.

Re: Cactusville?
I have eight (three pictured above) different kinds, but not that one. That is really different with that huge white flower. I like it! I believe Martin has more Echinocereus types than are known to science.

If I planted that here, it would be gone by morning! Do you have alligators standing guard?

Re: Cactusville?
All you guys have some wonderful collections in ground. You can grow many Platyopuntia and cylindropuntias and a few Echinocerus and that is about it here. I did grow a nice Harrissia (boplandi?) but I do not know how it fared with our 5F* since I moved to a new place. I hope it made it. Here is a couple of pictures. They grew up to the soffit of my house and then started rambling and hung down kind of like a medusa kind of thing. Beautiful. I am sorry I do not have a picture of them at that point. The lady I sold it to was Filipino and she loved them as well as many Agave, Opuntia and other cacti and succulents. If one of you more expert growers thinks this is some other Genus or species then please say so. I researched and harrissia is all I can come up with. I grew it out for years and it withstood 11F* on two occasions. It was planted against my house so it probably did not get that cold in that particular spot. I planted one of the pieces of it here and the 5F* killed it to the ground. I hope it maybe sprouts form the root. I will plant it in a more protected spot.
