Me three! (need one of those) That's one of the prettiest Agave there are.
Sounds like you're on the right track Mockingbird - best of luck with the plant's continued revival.

Glad to hear that underwatering was your biggest problem!
So now that you have diagnosed your problem, DON'T MESS WITH IT ANYMORE!
Just shade it a little more than you have, water FAR MORE FREQUENTLY (including liquid fertilizer at 1/2 recommended strength) and keep your eyes on it throughout the summer! Soil is soil is soil when it comes to this easy and fast plant; don't transplant it again!
Fertilizer will accelerate this plant's growth dramatically during spring and summer, and the plant will appreciate far more frequent waterings for the warmer months.
Once you turn this plant around (indicated by healthy new leaf growth) then you can think about putting it in the ground or in a larger pot.

A little off topic- but once the photos of A.ovatifolia at Sherman Gardens hit the internet- the supply shrunk to meet the demand. I saw a nice one..and kept walking at the price. I want one too.-lol.

Just had words with a fellow who has quantities of 12 different kinds of ovatifolia variegates in the oven.

Re: Agave orca dieing please help!!!
So here is a update on my variegated ovatifolia I did numerous soakings in a tub 2 to 3 times a week almost instantly within the first soak the color came back to the plant and it was not so wrinkled after a few weeks of doing that it has made serious improvements and I am no longer worried about
It dieing. The main thing I noticed is it is solid in the pot now which tells me it now making a good root system it isn't wobbly in the pot anymore when you nudge it is solid. It also payed open a new leaf here is a picture from this morning thanks again for everyone help on here.
