Any ideas on this one?
Had this for about 13 years. This year it is the first and only time it has made a half hearted attempt at pupping. The pup was attached to the stem below soil level.
I have always thought this to be gigantensis but I after posting on the BCSS forum and getting a few suggestions back, I'm less certain now than I was before.
Suggestions so far:
desertii,
shawii
After going back to Gentry's book I can also see deserti ssp pringlei and moranii both have similarities with this one.
Best Regards
Dave

Re: What is this?
At first glance I would have thought either A. scabra, or a greenish deserti. You are growing in the UK with wimpy sun (compared to deserti habitat!), so I will halfheartedly vote for deserti

Re: What is this?
I initially wanted to say asperrima (scabra) of some kind when I first saw it, but since the margins seem off and it is apparently smooth, I guess that one is out. The leaf shape sorta made me think gentryi as well.

Re: What is this?
You had better get some Daconil on that lower leaf that is browning from the inside out. That's never good to lose leaves from the inside out, it usually means rot is setting in.
It could be A. scabra I suppose.
