Just wanted to follow up a bit with Luc's previous post on the Agave Hwy 85. During that period YuccaDo introduced several other agave varieties selected while traveling in northeastern Mexico. Agave x 'Tres Equis' and Agave x'Pokey Ghost' were selected from converging populations which purportedly included Agave americana var. protoamericana, Agave asperrima and A. gentryi. Wade believed these to be of hybrid origin.
The first three photos are of 'Tres Equis' which have shorter and stouter leaves and excellent colored cross banding, especially when times are dry. It also has a nice silver/blue color to it with attractive marginal teeth.
The 4th and 5th photos are of 'Pokey Ghost' which are similar in some ways but, with age, has a more open rosette habit and larger more widely spaced marginal teeth. It has excellent horizontal banding and blue/grey color.
Both of these varieties grow extremely well in our central Texas climate as they are very cold tolerant ( mine have gone down to 14 degrees), and don't have any problems with winter rain. It's great to have some tough plants for our region.

If you hadn't have told us what they were, I would have said Agave sobria for both.
