Re: Snowverlode - Brace yourself
Yes it is indeed a cholla.
The one called 'Mosaic Medley' - a hybrid: Cylindropuntia acanthocarpa x imbricata that Tony Avent grows at Plant Delights. I gave it the name 'Mosaic Medley' because its flower petals are tie-dyed explosions of color.

have grown various cholla here near the coast for a few decades and none look as good as yours. Here I believe the extra heat and humidity affect them.

Re: Snowverlode - Brace yourself
I have had the same experience with chollas as you - except in regard to 'Mosaic Medley'. All the others that I have grown have failed in one way or another whilst this one goes from strength to strength. If mine comes through this winter okay, I will be glad to share a cutting with you.abborean wrote:have grown various cholla here near the coast for a few decades and none look as good as yours. Re: Snowverlode - Brace yourself
I'd appreciate that. I have one that is a hand me down plant from the Uwharries that does better than any directly from the SW but is still ugly this time of year. A few spined imbricata from the lower rio grande seems to thrive here until it gets blackspot? late in the summer. Kleini is rock solid.
