Habitat: Tubac

So kind of an interesting spot, about 15 miles north of Ruby Rd. and east of Arivaca. A haven for A. schottii, and they're more attractive here than usual. We also found something we had never seen before -- a forest of crested Cylindropuntia fulgida. What a wild sight!

Agave
"American aloe plant," 1797, from Greek Agaue, proper name in mythology (mother of Pentheus), from agauos "noble," perhaps from agasthai "wonder at".

Huh crazy looking makes me wonder if environmental change caused this or is a pest involved? Like on trees and bushes that develop lumps on leaves and trunks. Santa Rita looks awesome!

Are those Erythrina flabelliformis seeds? I know they grow around there.

The red beans, "Tubac 086.JPG", sure looks like some type of coral bean. Erythrina sp. Maybe Erythrina flabelliformis which is in southern AZ.

Yes that looks right, good call! Pods are really large.
