This is a fairly commonly grown/offered species in cultivation, but not nearly as cold or drought hardy as the King Palm (what it's called in the US... Australians call THIS species the king palm). This plant differs from Archontophoenix cunninghamiana in having white flowers (both have a white inflorescence, but cunninghamiana has purple flowers), leaves which do NOT normally turn to be perpendicular to the earth, a more stepped trunk, and leaflets with a silvery underside. These do tend to be a bit taller and even faster growing than cunninghamianas, but that's in tropical climates. In a Mediterranean climate that is a bit marginal (these struggle with temps below 27F) they are more difficult and touchy and tend to be more stunted than the other common species.
