Livistona speciosa

Post Number:#1  Postby Geoff » Sat Jan 13, 2018 11:27 pm

this species from many Asian locales is very similar in form and cultivational needs as Livistona jenkinsiana. Sometimes these two get lumped into the same species. Some of the countries where this palm is native to include Burma, China, Malaysia, Bangladesh etc. where it grows upwards of 70' tall. This is a slow growing dioecious species with huge, nearly circular, only somewhat divided leaves, though it seems rather variable depending upon its location and growing conditions. Cold hardiness is listed as 26F, but probably is not really much below freezing.
