large costapalmate solitary, dioecious fan palm with deeply divided leaves and trunk up to 100' tall. Native to many northern South American countries living in the deep jungle basins where flooding is common. Very tropical in its needs and is very cold intolerant. Excellent landscape palm in tropical climates- quite striking and ornamental.
