Thailand, Borneo, Sumatra, Cambodia and Malaya are the homes for this spiny, pinnate, clustering, tall (up to 80'), crownshafted, swamp-loving palm. This palm has pronounced drooping leaflets, which, in large groves of palms, is one of the most beautiful sights in nature. Many tropical botanical gardens grow large stands of this palm for its ornamental value. It has a crownshaft up to 5' tall, lime green to yellow-green and intensely spiny, ringed trunks. Very tropical in its needs.
