Sansevieria Bella 'Mutomo'

As noted by Juan Chaninian in The Splendid Sansevieria, Sansevieria bella is quite similar to S. suffruticosa, and that there are scores of lookalikes "within both S. suffruticosa and S. gracilis group that look alike, have smaller or larger leaves, thinner or thicker leaves, longer or shorter channels, have different colors and cross-banding." Nevertheless, he gives S. bella a separate listing in his heroic resource for Sansevieria lovers. I say heroic because there is precious little out there in terms of written information for these plants, the last notable effort before that from 1915 - N. E. Brown. In that sense, a work more or less of pioneer type status, and surely difficult to accomplish as such.

Anyway, I persist with the name the plant came with, which is not terribly out of step with the listing in the book, although my plant is of a darker green coloration than the one depicted therein.

This has been a fun plant to watch, as it now gives the appearance of trying to escape from it's pot. Here, one of the stolons emanating from the base of the original rosette's stem resulted in a rosette, and now another stolon which subsequently continued on from that rosette results in another new rosette. Will another eventually add on, forming a continuing chain? Time will tell... The plant is getting to be delightfully wacky looking.
