No, Winston, that is neither D. longissimum nor D. quadrangulatum. Where was the picture taken?

Hello Paul. No, I thought it was close. This photo was taken close to Bagdad, in central Arizona when I joined Gee.s on a habitat trail in May 2015. Then what is it? JkwPaul S wrote:No, Winston, that is neither D. longissimum nor D. quadrangulatum. Where was the picture taken?

Central Arizona I would guess it is D. wheeleri. D. quadrangulatum and longissimum, both fairly typically represented in the pictures I posted, are Mexican plants - D.q from the northeast, D.l from central.

Dasylirion longissimum
It's not a longissimum indeed but it looks quite greenish for a wheeleri, don't you think ?

It's Nolina bigelovii, one of the coolest-looking desert plants I've ever seen. I remember Winston said he didn't like 'em -- too big (Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa?!?!?!?)

Wow! That certainly clears the air. I do remember the conversation and I saying that I did not like it, but I did not remember the name. We cannot all like everything. Thanks Ron. Jkw
