As odd as this may sound, the flies Stapeliads attract are not bothersome. I don't mind them at all. Their only interest is foul smelling blooms, as opposed to the foul smelling bipeds they might otherwise annoy. They all seem very, very focused on the plants.
Where the hell did all these flies come from?

Had any blooms on that Stapelia leendertziae I sent you? Mine hangs out of a pot onto the ground, and the flowers are often full of beetles, ants, flies, lizards, all manner of crawling things!

I wish, it was sort of active after it rooted, but buds aborted. Now the season is upon us, so I am hopeful.
BTW the tips of some of the stems yellowed and died over the summer, but the main stem was unaffected. Not enough agua?

Very nice. Tough grow for me unless I resort to moving them around..mostly out of winter rains.
