Is this your plant Geoff? I can never keep it alive for more than 2 years.

I do recall seeing somebody living in Jamaica who had a large specimen so that gives a clue as to how to grow it......

Good luck! Looks like that is a seedling rather than a cutting...maybe it'll be easier? I gave up on this plant as well, after trying 3 or 4 years in a row...if I bought it in the spring it would be huge by November, but never survived the winter either inside or outside.

It's going in the propagator at 20c along with the seedling Pseudolithos.

Proabably happier in 90% Perlite and 10% organic. Fertilizing lightly in mid summer should be enough.

Here's one of my long dead plants. This is from September of 2012, never bloomed, died over winter. They seem to love heat and water...so, Jamaica?

I understand. Its like my Adenium's surviving outdoors in winter for a couple of years..you think its got it down, then the next winter it rots.
Some plants don't follow the "larger is hardier". Its young ones that are unkillable...then as they get valuable- poof- they give up.

I'm not sure that what they grow in is as important as the heat and water regime.

One thing I’ve found is that cuttings root relatively easily so I have 3 plants on the go now.

I don't expect it to last much longer. I've had it for 2weeks. The Stapelia I bought along with it mushed in a week.

These are the very words I choose to describe my life.
A good day has no rain, and a bad day is when I lie in bed and thinking how things might have been.

Good luck - I've heard they thrive in the humid Caribbean, so maybe you're not in such a bad spot. I tried a few times and got them very big, but they never survived a winter for me.

started in my care from a small cutting 2 years ago, finally got a bloom. Surprised and disappointed the flower only lasted one day but still, happy to have experienced it

I have 2 buds on mine but will they develop? I need this unseasonably warm weather to hold.
