Crassula falcata - new one to me - weird!

I know I'm no expert on Crassula, but I never saw anything like this before, so I brought one home. Figured for sure it was probably something common enough, and it may well be, but it wasn't in the Gallery either (just added).
Anyway, it looks like a really different and strange plant to me.

I've had this for a while... it's slow until it's happy & then it takes off. Midsummer red flowers that are as bold as the leaf form. Allover a great plant.

Slow to start is true. They need a good amount of water in summer. If not, they will stay small and compact and not nearly the size of largest plants. I've had one hard luck plant that's now in a pot recovering.
I would not put one in a front yard. It may be picked to death by passerby's.

You'd probably need a magnifying glass, but at the base of that lowest leaf looks to be an offset on the way. I guess in time these must make a colony.

I saw HUGE potted ones at the Dry Garden. Until then - I had no idea they could be so substantial. Mine? moved around, stepped on and finally one day no roots. Gopher?.But..coming back.

This used to be as common as muck in all florists and garden centres but not much sign of it these days.

It's one of the parents of CV Morgan's Beauty.

The Propeller Plant of yesteryear...

Quite pretty when at it's best in bloom. :))
