Normally this plant is covered with a very short, dense, sometimes coppery fuzz. However, this plant has smooth, rubber leaves though otherwise similar in all other respects. This is a species that has very poor cold tolerance, melting to the ground with any extended freeze, and showing pretty severe frost damage at temps as low as 26F
