Fortunately, this is also how you catch a percoset in your mouth...

Thanks Steph! Procedure (Thumb CMC) was only 8 hours ago, so it is bad bad bad for now, with local wearing off. That's OK, I knew going in. Supposed to ease up pretty quick, perhaps 2-3 days. In the meantime, watch that vid I posted if you want to know what's going on in the S residence. :U: :8:

Sorry to see the Medicine Man has cut you up, Gee.

Have heard (not that I've ever tried this as a remedy myself) that liberal applications of oral whisky, b.i.d, useful in such cases after prophylactic antibiotics course through.

OK so far less painful now that blocks are done wearing off. Guess I can empty the percs from my Pez dispenser....

Challenge now will be keeping it elevated while asleep. Hey, I'll install a hoist and pulley system above the bed.
Oh wait, in addition to being a terrible idea, that might take two hands... :U :U

Immediate concern is harmful tequila/whisky synergism. Not to worry, I'll read the labels.

Progress! Splint off, cast on. Much better. Now I need to regain the use of my fingers.

Thanks! Doc says I can go out into one-handed habitat in another two weeks. Won't be able to hike much because I can't manage my backpack, and I doubt
I'll be able to drive offroad, but I can be a passenger, and hike around just a little here and there. It will be good to get out. Nine more weeks before I'm two handed again.

Cast is off, and custom fitted splint is on. Hand has gone from 1% useful to perhaps 10% useful in one fell swoop. Now four weeks of physical therapy looming.

Glad to hear things are moving along! You'll be back to your old self in no time. I'm sure PT will make that feel like an eternity, though =)

Thanks Steph! Yeah, I've done the PT thing before, and it's frustrating at first, but I know you can't rush it. Stuff isn't going to move until swelling reduces enough to allow it. BTW, I'm one of those weirdos who actually likes therapy! What's wrong with me?

I didn't realise you were still so incapacitated. Is this to do with arthritis of the thumb?

Getting older I assume? The old Arthritis bug. I was wondering why my thumb :U was hurting me after all these years of no problems..and then I noticed my keyboard.
At least you got it all cleaned out and can now deal with it. I hate aches and pains. I can see in a few years, whatever I drop on the ground,it will stay there until I die...

Oh it was more than cleaned out, it was reconstructed. It would flare up, then calm down after a couple weeks. I probably could have lived with it as it was, but it just going to get worse.

And no, I'm not getting older. I'm already too old....
