I was pruning away at my community garden yesterday and took down the dead flower spike from an Agave americana "Lemon Lime", and after removing the bulbils I thought... "yeah!"
We're remodeling so excuse the papered floor. But the "tree" had about 8' of "trunk" removed and we put it in an xmas tree holder. It just needs decorating and I think it'll be very striking!

I like it! A Charlie Brown Agave stalk.
Agave
"American aloe plant," 1797, from Greek Agaue, proper name in mythology (mother of Pentheus), from agauos "noble," perhaps from agasthai "wonder at".

Re: Alternative xmas tree
Nice! Last year's parrasana stalk is a little advent tree for the kids this year.
It is apparently impossibly to post an upright photo from this phone, so, sorry GS.

Re: Alternative xmas tree
Stan I'm thinking some silvery spray paint, then ornaments.
Makes for a very cost-conscious choice, considering we've just spent cough-cough-all-our-bloody-money-cough-cough on the renovation, but we're enjoying the recycling/green aspect too
Anyway when it's decorated I'll add more pics. Melt, I like where you went with that parrasana!
