I'd say Homo sapiens, myself. Unlike pretty much any other species on the planet we have the ability to change or destroy the habitats of other species. And we're doing a pretty good job of that at the moment.

No doubt true Paul, but I'll argue that "The second most important mammal in the world" is a far less compelling title. Besides, the author may consider H. sapiens a virus.
