About Adenia

Post by Jkwinston »

Adenia is a genus of tropical plants which belong to the Passifloraceae family. They inhabit the area of East and West Africa, Madagascar and South East Asia. Generally, they can be classed as succulents or pachycauls, and therefore are perfect vehicles as caudiciforms because of their manageable size growth, and foliage production. As perennials, they cover a wide area including vines, shrubs, lianas and trees. Although sometimes used in traditional African medicine, many of them are toxic, and should be handled carefully. There are over 100 species, allowing a wide choice for plant lovers who are interested in collecting these plants. Young plants are readily available from selective nurseries. But for those who are looking an adventurous route, seeds and cuttings are an easy option. Jkw
