An unusual deciduous climber which occurs in southern Africa from countries high up as Kenya way down to Zambia and Tanzania. Its vines can climb to 3/4 metres, and its bulbs can grow to almost 15 cm in diameter. Its livelihood is somewhat threatened because its bulbs are used for medicinal purposes. Jkw

Are there other species that have different growth? I have a B. voluminous that never gets much groth. Something says it. The base was chewed by European pepper mouth larva.

I have another species, Bowiea garipensis... bulb stays about the same size, grows a lot slower and 'foliage' is paler, thicker and less branches... flowers a much larger. Below is a shot of normal Bowiea foliage and B gariepensis mixed in (thicker and paler).
