Watching a pro
Really interesting experience watching a professional photographer in my garden today for 3½ hours. He had an older Canon camera body and a bevy of big buck manual focus lenses. Everything on a tripod (main benefit being longer exposures), including an enormous, interesting looking flash. A helper was holding reflective panels as needed. In a way it was a little disheartening, because I know this guy has forgotten more about photography than I'll ever know.

The reflective panels that look and fold up like windshield sun shades are actually really nice to have. I've been that person holding them, lol. What will become of the photos?

^ Yes, exactly what they were. Seems Phoenix Home and Garden noticed I have a couple Agaves planted out. We'll see how or when it lands, but the shoot was really a lot of fun.

Well Mick, I haven't seen any of the photos, and I'm not sure I will before they're published, but I doubt they'll be any better than your stellar mobile phone shots!

Cool! But...I thought you don't even like A. 'Dianita'? I guess the editor disagreed.

Thanks all!
Who said I don't like A. 'Dianita'? I've made it a centerpiece in my backyard.
I've never met an Agave I don't like.

Re: Watching a pro
Yeah, Danny: He changed his mind after the divisions he made from the multi-headed plant I sent him took hold!
I told him he would like this cultivar, which he originally wasn't so enamored with.
This is a really cool little plant that maxes out at about 10 inches or so. Well grown plants are beautiful, perfectly symetrical rosettes that offset and produce both seed and bulbils.
Agave plants this small are not all that common, which makes this plant ideal for small bowls.

Re: Watching a pro
Well, I figure most folks will google the incorrect URL, and that will lead them to agaveville.org. There were a couple small errors in the article, and that was one.

Re: Watching a pro
Yeah, googling either Agaveville or Agaveville.com leads straight to the correct click-on, so certainly no worries there!
I guess we can expect several newbies shortly!

P.S. your yard looks great, by the way! I just finished a complete re-do of my front yard, with a whole bunch of Agaves, Aloes, terrestrial Yuccas & lots of small filler stuff like Mams, gasterias, Haworthias, gasteraloes and such.
I'll try to get some photos as soon as I am rested enough to physically pick up a camera!
