Just thought I'd share a few cactus photos from a short hike I took at San Tan Mountain Regional Park, just southeast of Phoenix, AZ on a hot, late summer September day.

"American aloe plant," 1797, from Greek Agaue, proper name in mythology (mother of Pentheus), from agauos "noble," perhaps from agasthai "wonder at".
