This is a pretty difficult (for me) aloe to grow. It is native to some of the hottest, driest areas of Namibia, and really seems to resent water any time of the year (except maybe rainwater to some extent). All the plants I have seen or tried to grow have been very sluggish and easy to rot. It has very thick, stiff, unspotted pale blue-grey leaves and no stem... a suckering species (very slow to) with interesting flowers (not seen in person) that stick out horizontal to the ground on very simple, mostly unbranched open racemes of red.
