Strange Ariocarpus kotschoubeyanus

I grew this from seed about 12 years ago but it has developed these monstrose growths on the tubercles. Anybody seen it before or know what it is?

Weird!

Are they just weird growths or could they be developing into little kotschoubeyanus plants? Like it is randomly developing offsets where you expect none?
It is what it is!

I really don’t know. Give me about 20 years and I’ll let you know!

Nope. On own roots. Flowered normally last season.
