My mealy arsenal consists of TriStar (systemic foliar spray), Bifen (bifenthrin termiticide, also found in Ortho), and Malathion. I have also begun experimenting with an especially nasty systemic drench, Dimethoate. In my experience, imidacloprid is ineffective.
Still early days, but so far Dimethoate seems highly effective when applied as a systemic drench. I have yet to see any mealies or scale insects survive this treatment.
Agave
"American aloe plant," 1797, from Greek Agaue, proper name in mythology (mother of Pentheus), from agauos "noble," perhaps from agasthai "wonder at".
