Squirrels love digging up sedums... Very aggravating. :red:

I think I'll need to get a peanut sometime...

Mid January, I received a cut of Aloiampelos ciliaris. Threw it in a pot to let it do its thing. Few months later... who knew it has a pot busting habit.

Today I noticed two seed pods on Aloe 'Blue Elf' which grows great unprotected from frost and rain here. I've had this one a long time and don't remember ever seeing it with pods before, but this year it was blooming right next to a gasteraloe in my wheelbarrow planter so maybe it was the gasteraloe that pollinated it.

Tied a mesh bag around the pods and may try germinating them. The gasteraloe is an Aloe variegata cross, and apparently that's now Gonialoe instead of Aloe. So I guess resulting mutt offspring would be (Gonialoe x Gasteria) x Aloe

I can't figure out growing aloes from seed. I have some open pollinated maculata seedlings, and after around a year they are still 1 cm tall. ::roll::

Hmm, interesting. I have Aloe maculata seed grown volunteers too and they seem to be growing fine. I've only grown agaves from seed and assumed it would be the same

I have two seed grown ovatifolia from Keith. This one has made several pups, potted on the right. Last year I removed them and now it's making more. The ones I removed are pupping too. A couple of my own seed grown ovatifolia also pup. I just assume they'll outgrow it. Until then, I'm happy to take what they make.

Owner of the nursery where I have a side gig came back from a big buying trip. These are especially fun. We usually have them in 3g size, so finding them this tall was a first. I can forward you a dropbox link if you want to see what I snapped yesterday.

For a second I thought those were the biggest boobies I had ever seen. Then thought they looked a little funky and saw the caption and realized they were different plant. Now it has me wondering how big boobies get. I've been wanting to get some and the ones I see for sale all the time are always just a foot or so tall.

Hope it takes a long long time to get that tall because I'm going to have to keep mine indoors once I get some.
