I think he's seen a David Attenborough film or two. But,nice to see those great plants on steep slopes surviving fires- but NOT hot weather. Mine are not especially drought tolerant..at all. Water,or they quickly in summer start developing blackened dead leaves that I have to pick off.
Full sun..and of course mine don't get that. Doing ok though.

Hayward Ca. 75-80f summers,60f winters.

Nice! they look like they have been trimmed up very neatly by the fires

amazing ! What a wonderfull plant ! I would like to go there to see these plicatilis. Maybe someday...
