"American aloe plant," 1797, from Greek Agaue, proper name in mythology (mother of Pentheus), from agauos "noble," perhaps from agasthai "wonder at".

My F. diguetii from the OP has basically gone nutz with new growth. After a long, slow slog of losing and replacing leaves, then slowly, laboriously blooming on each and every branch, pretty much one at a time, it suddenly exploded with new branches and furious growth. It has more than doubled its size in no more than three months. Above and toward the right is F. macdougalii, which has also enjoyed our past summer immensely.
