Re: Anyone growing Delonix?
I grew about 60 Delonix regis last summer in Corpus. Got the seeds from a friend in Puerto Rico. They grew fairly fast. Will have to look for seeds for some of those others, especially the Delonix pumila.

Re: Anyone growing Delonix?
I had one for three years here. D.regia in a pot. It seemed to be doing well, but after the third winter..it went dormant and never came out of it.
Once again a plant that if I had put it in ground MIGHT have done better than in a pot. Sometimes it vice versa with some tropicals much easier in a pot.
If it had done well..not sure why I would want a shade maker. I have a friend taking off some branches on my Ash tree...more sun this summer and a bonus? No bird crap on my car...

Re: Anyone growing Delonix?
I bought them, then decided after last winter that they would be something to cut from the collection. But there was little interest when I listed them, so Ive decided to keep those and ditch a few other trees that will sell easily. Once they start to progress I’ll post photos.

Re: Anyone growing Delonix?
I once tried to grow Delonix regia here in London, but it did not do well. It lasted for two years, grew about 20 inches and then it started to fail. I suppose if you keep it in a warm greenhouse it would just make it. Jkw

Re: Anyone growing Delonix?
I grew a couple Madagascan ones but they are very frost sensitive for me and will never develop an enlarged trunk.
