A few blocks from my house these are about as nice Date Palms as you will find in the bay area. Some are taller and older elsewhere- but these have a full set of hair!

That's awesome Stan thanks for posting that. Phoenix dactylifera is such a nice palm. There are a million of them in the median on the street that goes to my house but they are only females so even though they make fruit it is small and has no seed, and they taste terrible lol. I've heard that commercial date farms begin selling off their trees for landscape use after they get to a certain height because their fruit quality starts to decline. I just wish the city would stop trimming them up so high, big palms look so much better with a full crown of leaves.
