Cracked Cycad.

#1

Post by Stan »

For no known reason my Dioon spinulosum (I think it is) caudex cracked..like some kind of tectonic force, forced it apart.
Nothing to do about it I'm sure. Just posting something I've never seen before.

I've never seen this either! Maybe from a lack or excess of water?

Maybe too much late summer watering for it. Its not underwatered for sure. Reminds me of my king palms.

I have only seen this in Zamias. I think it's related to nitrogen excess.

I did fertilize it..but i do all my cycads and this has never happened. Could be a combo too of ferts and water. I see it even now is growing a peak of new leaves. Those I hope wait until spring.
