Plant Identification

#1

Post by tangiguy985 »

Hello Everybody, I'm new to agaveville so please excuse any forum faux pas. I received this plant from a friend and need help in identifying it. It appears to be a succulent to me but further identification eludes me. Thanks in advance for the help.

It's a bit scraggly and etiolated, but it could be Alworthia 'Black Gem'. It's a hybrid between Aloe speciosa and Haworthia cymbiformis. It should turn dark brownish when in higher light/full Sun. If it does that, then it's definitely the Black Gem.

I've attached a couple of pics of the one I had a couple of years ago.

Species I'm growing from seed: Agave nizandensis, Agave difformis, Agave parryi, Agave schidigera, Aloe alooides, Aloe manandonae, Aloe dhufarensis, Aloe barbara-jeppeae, Hyophorbe verschaffeltii, Kerriodoxa elegans, Johannesteijsmannia altifrons, Chrysalidocarpus leptocheilos, Licuala grandis.

Thanks meridannight for the identification help. Yes it is definitely scraggly and etiolated but is starting to perk up a bit.
