Noticed this tree while we were at the U of Arizona for a book festival. This is tucked into a very warm part of campus, but I was surprised to see it at all!

Why would anyone plant a Baobab tree in such a small space? How many years will it take before that tree gets pruned or hacked to pieces to control branching, or worse, cut down and removed because of restricted space limitations? That tree is doomed.

Because if it was planted in more open space it would have died a frosty death long ago... It gets quite cold in Tucson pretty frequently and still does fairly regularly.
It is what it is!

Thanks for the explanation and the reasons that the tree is planted where it is. Location, location, location.
