Sunny today and up to 18c but down to 8c at the weekend.

That run of 70F the last week or so felt great. It's over tomorrow followed by a week of cool rains. March did the lion-lamb-back to lion on us.

Definitely got spring going on, but every 1.5-2 weeks we get a short cool down with a chance of rain... it has rained relatively often, so the wildflowers (and if you look carefully between the wildflowers, also the weeds) have gone crazy:

Snow forecast for four days followed by single digit f lows on Wednesday. But had time this week to push some rocks together for another arid berm while the ground was mostly frozen.

We had a nice run of high 60s with full sun. Everything started perking up. Now we’ve got rain and temps getting close to freezing at night. Might even get a little snow. Hopefully it passes quickly and we can warm up soon for real.

Completely mad English spring weather. Friday and Saturday just gone it was 21C/70F. Today we just had a hail storm pass through with heavy rain and gusty winds and it is 6C/43F.

We got up to 10.2oC here today but there was a lot of hail along with it! Minimum was 4.6 though.

Warm weather with a lot of rain most of winter and spring = my agaves out in the hay field were in a sad state. I have gone out there a couple of times and hand-pulled grass away from them so they would get some sun, but they keep getting covered up in grass. Have to leave markers by them so we don't run them over when the grass grows. Finally went and mowed everything, and planted a few that graduated out of my raised bed. Ran out of time, so I didn't get to dig channels and fill with gravel for better drainage or spray ornamec. Hopefully this week.

The havardianas I got from my neighbor and funkiana from abborean were the winners this winter. They handled the wet winter far better than any others out there. Interestingly, the havardiana I got from a nursery and some funkiana fatal attraction I got elsewhere were both losers this winter. Also, I separated a two-in-one parryi and put them out in the field late last summer. One half did fairly decent and the other half lost a lot of leaves. Interesting such a difference for same genes and same location.

Literally ran over some baby rabbits on the lawn mower, but thankfully didn't harm them. There were 5 total, but can't see them all in one photo.

Ooh, a couple of other things from this spring.

The eclipse went right over us. We had a lot of cloud cover where I live, so we drove a bit and ended up with great visibility. Some cloud cover in the beginning but then was clear the entirety of totality.

Also, moved a few larger plants out of and a lot of smaller plants into the raised bed at my apartment. It is pretty crowded, but it should work until fall and spring when I make more changes. Needs some top dressing but I'm always changing things up in there so I haven't messed with it yet. Maybe someday.

It started to rain at 6 last evening. It is now 9.30 the following morning and still pouring, the heavy rain woken me at 5.
It is forecast to keep going until mid afternoon. The temperature is 7c.

Yeah. Awful spell of weather. I was in Cyprus last week - we had an afternoon flight home and whilst sitting outside having lunch in Paphos it was 32C. Touched down at Stansted and it was 4C. Bit of a surprise!

We've got roads locally flooded from the bursts of rain yesterday / today. Lowest temperature over the last couple of weeks is 0.3oC so just avoided a proper frost!

North Devon is worth visiting too. Barnstaple, Bideford, Westward Ho! that area is really peaceful and... windy too

Peaked at 27C / 81F here so I've done some planting. This gentryi has filled the entire pot with its roots in less than a year.

Yay spring. I think we’re avoiding a frost with this but the temp will barely climb above 45 tomorrow.
