Euphorbia arbuscula

Forms a fairly large 'pencil' tree in its native Socotra. No idea on cold hardiness, though.

I just bought an unrooted cutting for this Euphorbia. I'm expecting the cutting to be delivered in the coming weeks.

What's the best way to root it?

My plan:
Stick the cutting into a pot of damp, gritty mix, and keep the cutting on top of a heating pad (for bottom warmth), in strong light/but no direct sun.

Hoping for rooting and not rotting. I've read that it's difficult to root this species from cuttings. HELP!

Any suggestions? Rooted cutting will be grown, containerized, in Zone-7b/New York City. Cultural suggestions are welcomed. I'm planning to grow it just as I would any succulent/caudiciform i.e. gritty mix, good sun, moderate water, only if needed. If culture is spot on, is this Euphorbia a slow, or fast, grower?
