this is a relatively rarely grown plant in cultivation, though usually grown 'upright' in most gardens. In the wild (coastal Yemen) this plant is normally pendent, growing off cliff edges. It is solitary, somewhat grey plant with a stem that is strong enough to support the dangling rosette off the basalt cliffs.
