Thanks to our resident expert, Greg Starr & friends (2018 CSSA Journal Vol 90, No 1)
This is the plant that was initially sold as Agave species Santiago Lachiguiri. Quite an attractive plant that loves cliffs, hence the name cremnophila for cliff-loving. Thank you Jeff Chemnick for the name suggestion.

This one had generated long conversations at the time, it is strange that we can't find further informations now it is properly named. CSSA journal is the only to talk about this species ?

The CSSA journal is where I submitted the description for the species.

I'd like to suggest a couple spelling corrections to the Hiemiflorae group in post 1:
* The group name should be "Hiemiflorae" not "Heimiflorae".
* The species name should be "A. hiemiflora" not "A. hiemiflorae".

The latest Agave to be added to the list is from the Polycephalae:
Agave maria-patriciae (http://dx.doi.org/10.11646/phytotaxa.360.3.6" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

Agave pablocarrilloi is in the Marmoratae group. As part of the Agave Gypsophila complex it was split out of Agave gypsophila and given its own species status a few years ago.

Could you explain some names of the Groups or their characters: Amolae, Choritepalae, Ditepalae, Salmianae, Vicinae, Intermediae?
How to distinguish Antillanae and Antillares ?
Does Conicae mean conical flowers?
Thank you!

I can address Intermediae and Conicae because I coined those names, and a couple others.

Intermediae was formed to accommodate A. azurea and A. vizcainoensis, two species who characteristics are intermediate between species in the Deserticolae and the Umbelliflorae.

Conicae was formed to combine A. gigantensis, A. avellanidens, A. moranii, and A. turneri into their own section based on the conical inflorescence.

Species in the Choritepalae have free tepal lobes that arise from a disc instead of from a fused tube. Chori is Greek for separate.

Species in the Ditepalae are supposed to have dimorphic, or unequal, tepals.

The group Salmianae was named for the type species, A. salmiana.

I would not get too attached to Gentry's concept of "groups" because Thiede, Smith, and Eggli are working on a more formal infrageneric classification utilizing section names some of which predate Gentry's informal "group" names. For example, Gentry's Marginatae is more correctly referred to as section Heteracanthae, a name that was used before Gentry's "group" name.

According to this article, the relationships of many Agave species are not like the sections listed, my thoughts are so confused...
Which is better for Agave gardening? Morphological taxonomy or experimental taxonomy?
