We are planning to visit this general area in search of scapes this coming summer. Preliminary destinations include Big Bend Nat'l Park, Ft Davis, Carlsbad Caverns Nat'l Park, and the Franklin Mountains near El Paso. In a perfect world, we'll return with bloom shots of A. havardiana, A. ×glomeruliflora, A. lechuguilla, A. parryi ssp. neomexicana, and A. ×gracilipes.

"American aloe plant," 1797, from Greek Agaue, proper name in mythology (mother of Pentheus), from agauos "noble," perhaps from agasthai "wonder at".
