A friend of mine sent me a 2 1/2" pot of seedlings originally from Mesa Garden seed. Once I had untangled them there were 9 plants of what look like 4 species.

Fun plants to grow from seed, not demanding the patience required for cacti and agaves.
Agave
"American aloe plant," 1797, from Greek Agaue, proper name in mythology (mother of Pentheus), from agauos "noble," perhaps from agasthai "wonder at".
