Ficus auriculata and Ficus dammaropsis.

Ficus auriculata is known to be a water miser when its gets rooted..like many Ficus in California. I'm pretty sure this is Ficus dammaropsis...red vein above,all green below. They are new trade additions and to get them for just cuttings of Wigandia was a great bargain..I told the guy he could take more or some Aloe cameronii or...but he said no,because he's from the central valley and what I have it gets too cold for many.

The F.auriculata is in a half barrel and has been a very fast grower. Too fast. The F. dammaropsis is in the ground and has fruited but I never tried to eat the figs. It was growing pretty fast in a large pot and that slowed in the ground. Needs much water to thrive.

thanks for the update stan! i'm happy to hear that both ficus are alive and kicking. i think that the dammaropsis fruit is only edible if it's female, and pollinated. next time you get a fruit and it gets to maximum size, try cutting it in half and taking a pic. maybe we can identify whether it's male or female.
