Re: Aloe polyphylla
It really does need a much bigger pot Stan but I've been putting it off.
It needs a 2' half pot and I'm due a visit to Kew Gardens soon and can get one from them. They owe me enough.

Re: Aloe polyphylla
I took many photos to show how much this Aloe tilts..and I tell you,it just would not show like it does in person. To me,it's a clear tilt in person. But in photos its much more subtle. The last heatwave put those brown tips on it. I forgot to water it!..being I ALWAYS have never OVER water on my mind for it.

Re: Aloe polyphylla
Well done. Do you have anyone to swap pollen with to get some seeds?

Re: Aloe polyphylla
Been threatening that for a while now! Has it gone into a bigger pot or just fresh compost in the previous one?

Re: Aloe polyphylla
It's the smaller one and it's gone into a new bed in the garden with hardy (I hope) Agaves and Aloe striatula.

Re: Aloe polyphylla
I'm going to plant a two or three of mine out this year but was waiting for next week's cool snap to be over first.
Have you potted the big one up too?

Re: Aloe polyphylla
Theoretically that is the zone I am in but I don't think the USDA zones and what grows where really matches up to UK weather which is generally much wetter and milder than many areas with similar temperatures in continental North America.
My polyphylla is planted out but has only survived two winters so far and I'm not sure I'd even call last year's a winter! 2020/21 was bit harsher with a good few days below freezing though but not very low temperatures.

Re: Aloe polyphylla
I think a polyphylla x aristata could be a potentially amazing cross. Does anybody know of any crosses with polyphylla?

Re: Aloe polyphylla
I've seen a few photos online over the years, but not many! I agree that could be a really cool one.
