Originally identified, and grown by me as well, as Cycas panzhihuanensis, according to Kew it is now this Cycas siamensis (a LOT easier to spell, at least). However, for those who have tried to grow Cycas siamensis in California, you know that it is an extremely difficult species to grow (very cold sensitive). And I have been to the site in Thailand where this cycad is native and those plants are distinctive from the ones illustrated on this page- both in terms of appearance as well as cultivational tolerances... so either what everyone is growing as Cycas panzhihuaensis in California is something completely misidentified (because it is extremely cold hardy- one of the most of all the cycads) or whoever in Kew meshed these two plants made a grievous error. Until that situation is cleared up, I will keep this plants under this heading for now.
Cycas panzhihuaensis

Re: Cycas panzhihuaensis
A synonym for Cycas siamensis--- what a hoot. Just another example of the many errors on theplantlist.org- now the WFO Plant List.
