Agave 'Royal Spine'

#1

Post by SC FM »

Here is a new Agave " Royal Spine' I purchased recently. It is a hybrid of victoriae-reginiae x macroacantha. According to Greg Star it will reach about one and one forth to one and a half feet tall and about 2 feet to 2 and a half feet tall. He says it is probably hardy to high teens. If this is the case, I will have to bring it inside or protect during the harshest part of winter here. It is a very beautiful plant with age. If you have the Greg Star book, Agaves Living sculptures for landscapes and containers, It shows a beautiful example on page 27. I am excited about planting this one in a nice pot and positioning it in a nice sunny location in my Xeriscape.
