Grease Spot on Just One Ovatifolia Leaf

#1

Post by Fairview »

Can an agave just have a grease mark on one leaf and it not be a sign of mites? I have one leaf like that with no rust scars on either side and no additional markings or rust scars on the core leaves that have yet to open up.

Thanks

Tough to advise with no visual evidence, but generally yes, I have seen odd staining here and there apparently unrelated to eriophyid mites.
Agave
"American aloe plant," 1797, from Greek Agaue, proper name in mythology (mother of Pentheus), from agauos "noble," perhaps from agasthai "wonder at".
